Candlemass - Psalms for the dead (2012)

Candlemass is a kooky sort of album, its something you find in the back of your dad's music collection, he might have the entire discography but you will never take notice of any of them, your eye scanning across his shelf - a tribute to 80's rock - you always seem to skip this one, and even if you did coincidently picked it up while lazily looking through said collection you immediately put it down because its boring to look at.If this is you, you have certainly missed out some quality doom metal

The music style is influenced by Black Sabbath (and you can here this), being doom metal its slow and daunting with a side of bad, but in a good way. The lead singer for this album is Robert Lowe, although he's good (in fact he is an opera singer) he will never be as iconic to me as Messiah Marclolin who was fantastic for this sort of stuff.and was the original singer for Candlemass

Their topics are kind of heavy but pretty typical and there isn't many surprises., this album sounds like it looks. Nevertheless a decent album that isn't heard about too much so check it out

Enjoy
